Metcalf came to Hudson in 1813 with his brother, Jonathon, and he married Eliza Thompson in Hudson in 1819.

​Eliza Lemira was the daughter of Dr. Moses Thompson. (buried to his right, stone with hand pointing upward)

​

A portion of his original landholdings is now Hudson Springs Park and the home he built for his family still stands.

Called Maplewood Farm, it was built in 1824 & remained in the family until 1928, according to HHA research.
