doctor gideon case

Moving toward the front and more toward the center, we find the grave of Dr. Gideon Case.

There were actually three men named Gideon Case associated with Hudson in the 1820's.

​

This particular Gideon was a well-known and well-respected doctor, married to Persis Case.  And his death came very unexpectedly when he fell off of a horse & was kicked.

Such a simple accident but it left a grieving family and probate filings that stretched out for a decade.

Given the sudden quality of his death, the epitaph is poignant,

"Be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."
