John & Lucy Brewster were the children of Anson & Sally Brewster.

​

AA Brewster worked his way up in business & soon ran a prominent store from the building at 5 Aurora.

While away on a buying trip, his household came down with scarlet fever.

​

His father, who lived in Ravenna, noted in his daybook, "I was called upon this morning to go to Hudson to attend the funeral of my little grandson, John Buckingham Brewster who died of scarlet fever..." Four days later he recorded hearing of his granddaughter Lucy's death.

The senior Brewster records waiting anxiously, but finally had partially good news----the others at his son's home were spared.
